I have intentionally dodged that bullet. I hate touching raw meat. I am willing to take multiple food assigments just to avoid it. Way to take it on Mahina! I"m sure you looked good doing it to! : )
I have finally found my Thanksgiving soul mate. I have never touched a raw, naked turkey, nor will I ever willingly do so. And a friend who actually likes cranberry sauce! :-)
Who likes cranberry sauce? You Elizabeth? I love cranberry sauce. That's what I'm taking tomorrow. My homemade kind with orange peel. It's really good.
yeah not a fan of turkey.... I made 2 last year... dont ask why, ok i'll tell you well I was on the activities committee and here at BYU-H in the married wards we have thanksgiving lunch or dinner with our wards so I made a turkey for that... it was a few days before thanksgiving... and then at the Land of Food... they were only $3 or $4 for a big fat turkey so I thought why not?! So I spent a long time making the turkey, we had some friends come join us.... I made real mashed potatoes that were awesome! and my altime favorite is the stuffing.... I made stovetop in 5 minutes flat! So the turkey that took hours and hours vs the stovetop that took 5 minutes.... Stuffing wins!!! The turkey even turned out fine... i'm just not a turkey fan... I like turkey lunch meat but not the whole real turkey bird thing. Anyways... I'm all for non turkey thanksgivings! call me the grinch i dont really care!
That's funny! I did make a turkey a couple of days ago. We are joining some friends for Thanksgiving dinner and they are in charge of the turkey but I wanted to have left over turkey around for sandwiches and such. I don't love turkey either. Actually, I don't like mashed potatoes, turkey or stuffing. I usually eat rolls, jello and green beans for Thanksgiving dinner. The relish tray is my favorite part of the meal. I don't actually like pumpkin pie either. I'm not picky!
i am the one that loves cranberry sauce! but i have to admit i only like the kind that looks like the can once you dump it out! no homemade stuff for this girl! and no chunks!
you are one crazy, crazy! rolls, jell-o, and green beans! sorry, that just won't cut it for me!! i'm not a big turkey fan, but i do love turkey with cranberry sauce on it! and for leftovers i love a roll with turkey and cranberry sauce with a little mayo! yummmy!
First of all, Yes that is a huge turkey!! And Happy Thanksgiving! I am always so impressed with your pictures on your blog, you'll have to teach me how you make them so perfect...or maybe thats just you, Miss you all tons!!
Our turkey cook-off was a success. Bert's and Barbara's turkeys were both good. But the best part is my not having to bake one myself. I got to take the kids (Kele & Katrina) to the movies. We saw a very sweet film "Enchanted". My review is, 2 thumbs up for anyone. All the little princess' will love it! Even Prince Kele liked it very much.
Oooh, I've missed so many good posts in my week out-of-town. I love them all! Especially the ones of your stay in Colorado. It made me long for the summertime again. I'm such a summer girl.
Great shots at the temple grounds in Seattle. Love em!
I have to admit that I have cooked a turkey, but it actually wasn't all that bad. I did it while at BYUH for all 14 of my roommates.
Your turkey in the sink shot was used on TV! I think it was a Jenni-O turkey commercial before Thanksgiving...a lady wrestling with a ginormous turkey, slips out of her hands and onto the floor...she goes to retrieve it, tosses it back up to the counter, but instead it goes through the window above the sink, hits her husband outside whose on the lawn and knocks him out.

I have not had the pleasure of wrestling a turkey yet either. It sure looks fun though.
That is funny. I have yet to do that too. I am gladly in charge of non turkey items- mashed potatoes and pies. Have fun with the Carters.
