what i did while my husband was in the mountains sleeping in a cave

on thursday night heidi called us to invite us over for a game night on friday. sadly, i had to decline because mitch was most likely going snow caving with the young men. i said "most likely" because they weren't sure if they had enough adult leaders to go. i mentioned this to heidi and she quickly volunteered her husband who, being from arizona, had never been snow caving before. he reluctantly agreed to go.

so, the next afternoon i sent my "hot dog" (notice the hat) of a husband to the mountains with andy.

that same afternoon i called heidi and suggested that we should do a ladies game night while we were husbandless. she loved the idea, but because it was such late notice we only had three of us to play games. what game did we play? the game we are all addicted to:
have you played it? you should!

we stayed at heidi's house (my three kids spent the night, thanks heidi!) playing and eating chocolates until 3 am!! yup, you read that right! we didn't leave until after 3 in the morning! are we pathetic? no, we just know how to live it up when the husbands are gone!

when mitch dropped andy off the next morning, heidi told them that we stayed up until 3 that morning playing settlers.

so, mitch calls me on his cell phone and says, "how ya doin'? you sound a bit horse, like you didn't get much sleep last night! i think i got more sleep sleeping in a snow cave than you did sleeping at home!"

i'm pretty sure he's right!

Sounds like you both had a fun time! I would rather be warm and playing catan though. Snow caves make me claustrophobic.
Ive never played the actual board game. My sister and I always play online.

Spending time with girlfriends is always fun. I do not like that game though, too much strategy for me. Mike loves it though.

I'm always looking for a fun game. I'll have to check that out.

I have become addicted to that game. I think I might have to ask Andy for it for my birthday. Let me know when the tournament is going to begin! It might be an all-nighter! Andy thought I was Crazy to be up that late, but it was like we where teenage girls again having fun!

Sounds like fun! Elizabeth called me around 6pm to let me know and I was getting my kids ready for bed so I didn't get the phone. Bummed I missed it. I definitely would NOT have lasted until 3am though. Was Elizabeth that other brave soul?
I haven't heard of that game before. Sounds like it must be fun though.

I love Settlers! My husband and I were introduced to it by some friends. I won the last time we played. I had to victory points that no one knew about so no one suspected...it was awesome!

The Johnson family has been addicted to this game for quite some time...LOVE IT!!! Stu even found a way to play on line.
Sounds like fun :-) Wish we'd been there for it.

Seems like we played that game into the wee hours on my last visit. It's addictive.

I love a late-night, girls-night, game-night. Especially when it is Settlers. My family is addicted, and now Flint's family is addicted too!

What a blast, I'll have to look into that game. I'll have to do it at the right time, because I tend to be a bit of a game addict anyway.

I love that you guys know how to PARTY!!

Oh, my goodness. It's a miracle we got home in one piece! I carefully followed you home. Thanks for signalling as you turned, or I might have gotten lost! :-) That was so fun! I was thinking all the next day about how fun it would be to play again!

We love Settlers, too. We have the older version, not the one pictured on your blog, with the wench on the front. My MIL took a Sharpie and colored in a black "tank top" so she wasn't PG-13ing all over our game closet.

we love that game, although we haven't played in a while. we got a little burned out after playing compulsively for about six months. i'm getting ready to play it again, though.

sounds like a great girls' night. i have a hard time going to bed when there are games to be played.

you are so fun! I love you posts. Where did you get this game and is it role playing? I am in love with How to Host a Murder, but you can only play that with a bbysitter and some planning to make it real fun.

I love volunteering my husband for things. Especially if it means I get to play with girlfriends while he is gone.

Heidi sounds awfully smart.

Where did you get such a cool hat for your husband? I want one although Dan probably would not wear it unless I sewed a U of Oregon patch on it somewhere.

You totally know how to hang out with the girls! That night sounded fantastic!

I haven't played that game but now you have piqued my curiousity!

So, are you in the same ward as Bridget?

I love that game, but haven't played for a long time. How fun to have an all night girls night:0)You guys are wild and crazy!

What a fun night! I love getting together with the girls. Oh, and I got hooked on Settlers of Catan when we lived in Oregon. Some friends in our ward were huge into it and Mike and I fell in love. Someday we'll have to buy it for ourselves.
