mother of the year award...

definitely goes to me, right now! we just realized that lala's preschool end of the year celebration was today at 4:00! actually it was lala who realized it! it just about broke my heart! we were all excited about it and looking forward to it, but we totally spaced it!

so, we are off to the ice cream store, after which, i will curl up on the couch in the fetal position and cry! how could i be such an irresponsible mother!?

I was wondering where you guys were. Poor Lala. She'll remember being able to go to the ice cream store. That will make up for it.

Oh, Mahina, you are a wonderful mother! Motherhood makes us spacey sometimes, and the ice cream still made it a special moment for her.

Doesn't she have another year of preschool? If so, you can play that graduation up next year.

It could be much worse, She will forgive you. Our children have to forgive us for many things over the years. Am I right? You forgot most of it yourself.

Listen to tutu lady. That's the best advice I've heard. I'm going to remember that the next time I do something similar. Because it happens to all of us Mahina.

Your mother is a very wise woman. I, too, need to remember her advice for the next goofy thing I do. Besides, ice cream soothes many a wounded soul. :-)

Oh, Mahina, that stinks. I've been there. I like tutu lady's advice. I'll have to remember that!

I have done that before. I hate that feeling. The only thing that makes it better is time. Why do you think I have a watch with 200 alarms. Believe me, I've been there, and they do forget. You do so many great things with your girls, they will forget your screwups. They will also be amazed at how you were such a great mother, when it is there turn. If she remembers it at all, it will bring her comfort when she does something similar.

Welcome to the club! We have all forgotten something important, a soccer game, a friends birthday party, a school project...honestly don't be so hard on yourself. I say that knowing I would be curled up in fetal position for awhile too. You are a great mom and all the other million things you DO remember make up for this little oops.

lala pretty much was over it as soon as i mentioned the ice cream store! i think as a mother we are more sentimental and deep feeling. ice cream fixes everything for a 4 year old. i wish the same were true for a 30-something year old!

I could be worse. Take a pic of her and the ice cream and label it graduation.Paula

What a bummer! But, I'm sure the ice cream was more fun for you and kept the kids more contained anyway. :) There is always next year...and the year after...kindie graduation, 5th grade graduation, middle school graduation, high school graduation, seminary graduation, college graduation and all the other achievements in between. Don't be too hard on yourself!

It's hard to keep track of all that stuff sometimes. I write EVERY LITTLE THING on my calander and try not to forget to look there every day.

don't be so hard on yourself. why do we as moms insist on beating ourselves up over being human? i'm glad to hear that you knew the appropriate fix--ice cream soothes a troubled soul.:)

Mothers know best!! Listen to yours. Besides I'm sure she's already forgotten. That's the best thing about kids they don't hold grudges ...Yet

You are a GREAT MOTHER!

I have spaced things like that, too...sadly, it just happens!

You do realize that I take the award as well for missing it when I turned on to Farmington, drove around 45 min., made an illigal u-turn which ended up scratching the heck out of our newly replaced bumper and making it to the ceremony with seconds to spare before they called his name. Then annoyed I grabed a piece of cake-the only reason to go-and took them home. Life is just like that somedays-we have to get over it.
