our driveway rocks!

we were all so excited to wake up to see a white, winter wonderland outside! the girls have been dying all year for a "snow day" that had enough snow so we could go sledding down our driveway on the "rocket". well, today was the answer to their prayers!

sledding is the best thing about our driveway! when it snows, we have the primo sledding "hill" right in our front yard! not only that, but our driveway dumps us onto the street which quickly continues downhill!! the girls always try to continue down the street from the driveway, but being the "mean mommie" that i am (i value their safety over their fun when it comes to playing in the street! i know, i'm so mean!!) they must stop at the the bottom of our driveway! even still, it is a pretty sweet ride!

(note: i just have to say that i L.O.V.E our new camera! it is so fast, it's almost like watching a movie! 5 frames per second! wow! okay, that's all i have to say, on with the story...)

i was just excited to be able to go out and take pictures again! the gloomy, wet oregon weather is not conducive to taking pictures (have you noticed the lack of photos on my blog recently?!)! so, i strapped on my new camera bag (thank you mom and dad!), placed the new camera around my neck and headed out with the girls! here are a few of my favorite close-ups (because i love close-ups):

lala enjoyed, not only sledding, but making many snowballs. at one point, i think she had 8 snowballs that she was carefully protecting on the side of the driveway. here she is showing off 2 of her lovely snowballs!

i just love these two girls!! and they love snow!

How did you do that? That is so cool! It's just like a video! Of course with my superb photography skills, I'm not too surprised. :-) Thanks so much for sharing your driveway and rocket sled with us. Such wet, wet fun!

I love Nani's face in the first few pictures. Somehow you always capture moods so well. I love it. Next time it snows, can we come and play? All this time I thought I had to go to a mountain to sled!

How is it that you got WAY more snow then I did and I only live 15 minutes from you??? Next timn we are coming to your house for snow fun. We barely had enough to make a decent snowball fight.

You are so brave to let them go down your driveway like that! What fun! Looks like your camera is awesome. I'm looking forward to being able to move my body into positions other than "straight up" so as to be able to take some more fun photos! I can't bend!!!

I thought of you yesterday and wondered how many neighbor kids were at your house sledding. There should have been a nice family with kids watching and saying "Now we MUST buy that house." Not many homes have perfect sledding hills after all.

You got way more snow that we did! There was nothing on the sidewalk or roads here and we had just a dusting on the grass.

It looks like so much fun!

How fun!! Your driveway is ideal for that. Not so much for driving on though. :) Today was totally fine driving so I am glad I could help. I wouldn't want to leave your house either if I could avoid it. Sorry we were late. We were all still in our PJs when you called. At least the kids don't care about being late.

What fun! We don't get much snow around here, but you know that! I guess your driveway is good for one thing. I will always remember the time I tried to back down your driveway (with Mitch watching) and ran over your neighbors BOULDER!!!

I think I want to know more about your camera. The pictures are awesome.

I'm thinking the hill look like so much fun for a sled, not so much for a car. I'm chicken.

I notice YOU didn't stop at the edge of the driveway!

the sledding video was great! last year Rowdy took Jake down my parents hill when it snowed--Jake LOVED IT. and was sad when Grammy's hill did not have enough snow to sled down.

and your picutres are amazing. i am always in awe of your photography.

I told you.. You should install a rope-tow on the side of your driveway. You could call it "Mt Mason ski resort". It will double your home value, and you'll be able to charge for lift tickets. ;)

(Not me of course, I get to ride for free....)

We could hear the laughter from our yard! Not quite enough snow to recreate the magic of last year, but it sure was beautiful while it lasted.

if it snows enough to sled on again, we will definitely come get your kids! you should have sent your kids down! we would have loved to have them!

What a fun day! Your girls look like they're in heaven. I have to admit that I do love a good play in the snow every now and then. However, now that we're buried in multiple feet of snow I'm about sick of it.

You are an amazing photographer! I love looking at all your pics. What a great talent. I miss Nani-I'm certain Connor had a crush on her last year. Who knows-he still might!
